An invitation to look deeper at the symptoms we’ve been taught to ignore.
An invitation to look deeper at the symptoms we’ve been taught to ignore.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, my first pregnancy, I didn’t know half of what I know now.

And that’s okay.

Motherhood is part of the reason I’m on this path in the first place. I wanted better for my kids, so I started learning. I started chasing health not just for them, but for myself too.

Back then, I was told jaundice was normal. Cradle cap was normal. That it was completely fine for a breastfed baby to go up to five days without pooping.

By the time I had my son, I knew more. I was more sure in a lot of things. But I can look back and still see: I didn’t yet know what I do now.

Our society treats babies like adaptable little creatures, and their symptoms like things we don’t need to worry about.

But not only is that a lie, it misses the deeper truth:

Most of what babies express is actually a mirror of the mother’s body.

Once you understand detox pathways and how the body moves waste, things that are brushed off as “normal baby stuff” become clear signs of stagnation.

A baby going five days without pooping? That’s not “just how breastfed babies are.” That’s a congested liver and an overwhelmed colon. Babies make waste from the minute they start multiplying as cells, and if they aren’t eliminating it daily, that waste is being recirculated through their system.

Cradle cap? It’s like dandruff in adults, only this time, it’s on a brand-new body that hasn’t yet figured out how to process overload.

And jaundice? It’s biologically common, yes, but that doesn’t make it harmless. The “solution” moms are given is to pump more, feed more, push more fluids. And if that doesn’t work? Formula. Even if mom is still healing and barely producing enough for herself. That’s how I ended up giving my son soy formula, and a few days later, we were treating thrush with antifungals… all in the first three weeks of his life.

Mothers know when something is wrong.

But we’ve been trained to second-guess that knowing. To accept dysfunction as normal. To settle for band-aids that never touch the root.

Your body tells a story.

And your baby’s body? It’s just telling the next chapter.

Most people don’t know how their lymph system works. Most people don’t know what minerals their body is crying out for. That’s not our fault, we were raised in a system that profits off of our disconnection. Even our midwives and pediatricians are still echoing advice from that system.

But when your baby has a symptom, it’s not random.

It’s a clue.

It’s a call.

It’s a map back to your own healing.

The thing about adult bodies is that we’ve learned how to compensate. We’ve ignored the signs for so long, our bodies have just adapted and carried on.

But babies can’t do that yet. Their systems are too new.

They adapt in real time, through expression.

And when they do, it’s often reflecting what our bodies are still holding.

Tooth decay is one of the clearest examples of this. It’s not just about brushing. Cavities are often a sign of mineral deficiency and systemic depletion. The body takes what it needs, and when it’s desperate, it pulls it from the teeth first. That’s why so many women develop sudden dental issues after pregnancy and nursing. It’s not just a coincidence. It’s not “just hormones.

It’s your body drawing from reserves that were never full.

As I’ve learned more, I’ve changed how I care for myself and my family.

I’m nourishing our bodies with bone broth, trace minerals, and whole, unprocessed foods. I’m working with our lymphatic systems and detox pathways to ensure there’s real movement, not just surface-level support.

I’m using herbal teas, gentle routines, and singular-ingredient foods to bring us back into rhythm.

And the difference? It’s felt in everything. Digestion. Sleep. Energy. Skin. Teeth. Mood. All of it.

🌿 What You Can Do Now, Without Panic or Perfection:

If your baby is showing signs of stagnation: constipation, cradle cap, or discomfort; you don’t need a prescription to begin. You just need connection.

  • Rub a fingertip of castor oil over their liver area (right side under the ribs) once a day to gently support detox flow.

  • Brew a weak chamomile tea and offer a teaspoon or two, or drink it yourself so the calming, gut-soothing properties pass through your milk.

  • Add fennel to your own meals or tea, it supports baby digestion, reduces gas, and can gently stimulate flow.

  • Use lavender or chamomile in their bath or a humidifier to relax the nervous system; for them and for you.

  • And most importantly: notice. Listen. Your baby is speaking with their body. You don’t have to fix everything, you just have to respond.

And for you, mama-

Start with nourishment. Add in trace minerals. Choose simple foods that give more than they take. Sip your own herbal teas. Support your lymph with movement, dry brushing, or castor oil. Rest when you can. Cry when you need.

The more you reconnect with your own body, the more clarity you’ll find, for both of you.

This is your invitation to question what you’ve been told is normal.

To ask: Why does my body feel this way? Why does my baby’s?

To stop accepting “fine” as the goal.

To understand that health isn’t symptom-free.

It’s connected. It’s responsive. It’s whole.

So look at your body.

Look at your baby's body.

Where have they been asking for more?
